TCS Nashik Harassment Case: Allegations of Obscene Messages, Vulgar Passwords Emerge

Fresh and deeply troubling details have surfaced in the alleged sexual and religious harassment case at the Nashik BPO unit of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), with multiple complainants accusing senior employees of sustained misconduct and intimidation within the workplace.

According to statements recorded before the Maharashtra State Women’s Commission, one of the complainants alleged that the harassment began during her training period and continued for several months. She accused a senior employee, Raza Rafiq Memon, of repeatedly summoning her to his cabin, making sexually explicit remarks, and passing comments that hurt her religious sentiments.

The complainant further stated that despite reporting the matter to her immediate manager, no corrective action was taken. Instead, she alleged that the harassment escalated. Two other accused, Danish Sheikh and Tausif Attar, were later said to have engaged in digital stalking and the circulation of defamatory rumours.

Obscene Digital Content and Workplace Intimidation

Investigations indicate that the alleged misconduct extended beyond individual interactions. Police sources have pointed to the circulation of obscene messages in official workplace WhatsApp groups, reportedly sent on a near-daily basis by a group leader.

In a further disturbing claim, office Wi-Fi passwords were allegedly changed frequently using vulgar or religiously offensive terms, which investigators believe may have been intended to mentally harass and intimidate women employees.

Case Origins and Expanding Allegations

The case initially came to light following a complaint against Danish Sheikh, who was accused of establishing a physical relationship with a woman in 2022 under the false promise of marriage, while allegedly concealing his marital status.

The complaint also named his sister, Nida Khan, who is currently absconding. She has been accused of making derogatory remarks about the complainant’s faith and pressuring her to convert religions. Investigators have stated that Khan, along with Tausif Attar, allegedly concealed Sheikh’s marital status from the victim.

As the probe widened, at least seven additional women approached authorities, alleging mental and sexual harassment by senior colleagues. Several also accused the human resources department of failing to act on repeated complaints.

The incidents are reported to have occurred over an extended period, between February 2022 and March 2026. A separate complaint has also been filed by a male employee alleging an attempt at religious conversion within the workplace.

Arrests, Suspension and Ongoing Investigation

So far, police have arrested seven individuals in connection with the case, including six men and one woman. Among those arrested are Shahrukh Qureshi, Shafi Sheikh, Asif Aftab Ansari, and HR head Ashwini Chainani.

Chainani has been accused of discouraging a complainant from formally lodging a complaint. All accused individuals have been suspended by the company pending further investigation.

Law enforcement authorities have stated that the inquiry is ongoing, with efforts focused on gathering additional evidence and testimonies. The case has raised serious concerns about workplace safety, internal grievance mechanisms, and the accountability of corporate human resource systems.

Officials have assured that appropriate legal action will be pursued based on the findings of the investigation.
