NEW DELHI — The 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum has condemned the Pahalgam terror attack and called for stronger international cooperation against terrorism, including efforts to prevent terrorist financing and the use of safe havens.
The joint declaration was adopted at the forum held in New Delhi on October 26 and 27. Representatives from Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates took part.
The declaration condemned the April 2025 attack in Pahalgam, in which 26 people were killed. It called for coordinated action against designated terrorist groups and entities.
The forum also expressed concern over escalating tensions in West Asia and urged restraint, diplomatic engagement and protection for civilians and civilian infrastructure.
It further called for comprehensive reform of the United Nations, including the Security Council, to make the organisation more representative and responsive to present-day global realities.
