One of the Covid vaccine producers, Bharat Biotech, has released the price of the nasal vaccination for the general public. According to Bharat Biotech, private institutions will charge Rs 800 for one dosage of the vasal vaccine plus taxes, and the federal and state governments can purchase the nasal vaccine for Rs 325.
For anyone over the age of 18, the nasal vaccine iNCOVACC will be introduced during the fourth week of January. The vaccine booking slots are currently available on the CoWin portal.
The first intranasal vaccine for Covid to be approved for both a heterologous booster dose and a primary 2-dose schedule is called iNCOVACC. Its phase III studies (as a 2-dose regimen) for immunogenicity were carried out in 14 study sites across India with 3100 individuals.
"We have created covaxin and INCOVOC, two Covid vaccines from two different platforms, with two different delivery systems," said Krishna Ella, executive chairman of BBIL. Thanks to the vectored intranasal delivery platform, it has the potential for rapid product development, scale-up, and simple and painless immunization in infectious diseases and public health emergencies.
In collaboration with Washington University in St. Louis, which created the recombinant adenoviral vectored construct and tested its efficiency in pre-clinical research, iNCOVACC was created.
