IRELAND: Transfer of power in Ireland when governing roles change; Now Prime Minister Leo Varedkar

Dublin: Fine Gael leader Leo Varadkar, the Indian native, has been appointed as new Ireland prime minister by President Michael D. Higgins for a second term as per the previous role change agreement. Fine Gael leader Leo Varadkar has been appointed to replace Fianna Fáil's Michael Martin, who resigned under the terms of the coalition agreement between the parties in 2020.

Varadkar won a special sitting of the Dáil to elect a new Prime Minister by 87 votes to 62. Soon after it was done, the vote program was held in Parliament.

On housing's "many challenges", the Fine Gael leader said he would do "whatever is necessary to solve this social crisis" and would apply the "same spirit of determination, action and agreement" as he had applied this time. Varadkar said of the new administration that the next challenge will be inflation and keeping the cost of living under control.

"I am honored to have the opportunity to serve again." I look forward to getting down to hard work in the next few hours.” After receiving the seals from the President yesterday, Taoiseach said:

Varadkar praised the outgoing Prime Minister Michael Martin and his leadership for "providing assurance and hope in the difficult times of the country. There will be a reorganization of the Cabinet in accordance with the new Prime Minister. In this regard, an agreement was reached at the meeting of the tripartite leaders, Meehol Martin, Leo Varadkar and Eamon Ryan. It is expected that there will be a change in the departments of most of the ministers.
