Spring onions don’t need a lot of space, so if you have a small apartment with no garden or balcony, they are a good choice to grow
When regrowing spring onions, you need to take a cutting from an existing onion. Cut off a thin slice from the top end of the onion and then set it in a glass of water. You can regrow spring onions in water multiple times before they start to wilt. spring onions are easy to regrow in water! Supermarkets sell spring onions with the bulbs and roots attached, which most people separate before cooking.
Step 1.
Choose healthy spring onions (aka scallions) to regrow from kitchen scraps ie, spring onions brought from stores
Step 2.
Cut each spring onions so you have 1″ to 2″ of stem attached to the roots. This will be plenty for the green onions to regrow
Step 3
Next put these cuttings with roots in water.
Step 5:
Refresh the water every 2-3 days, I prefer change water everyday
Step 6:
When they grow repeat this step
You can move this spring onion roots to outdoor soil in summer
In outdoor in soil i harvest at least 5 times every summer.
NB: For scallions/spring onions regrow is the best method than grow from seed.
I tried both. i tried to grow spring onions from seeds in summer outside but i can only harvest 1time ,but i buy spring onions from stores and cut the stem and grow it ,i harvest at least 5 times every summer.
