Benjamin Netanyahu will return to power in Israel today after being in opposition in what analysts describe as the most right-wing government in the country's history.
Senior security and law enforcement officials have already expressed concern about its proposal, as have the Palestinians.
"It will be a dream government for Netanyahu's partners," Yohanan Plesner, president of the Israel Democracy Institute think tank, told AFP.
"One side's dream is the other side's nightmare," he said, adding: "This government is expected to take the country on a completely new path.
Netanyahu, 73, who is fighting corruption charges in court, has served as prime minister longer than anyone in Israel's history, including a record 12-year reign from 2009 to 2021 and three in the late 90s.
He was ousted from power in the spring of 2021 by a grand coalition of leftist, centrist and Arab parties led by Naftali Bennett and former TV news anchor Yair Lapid. It didn't take long to come back. Netanyahu will present his new government to Israel's parliament for a ratification vote at 11 a.m. (0900 GMT).
