Coventry: UK Malayali Gigi Matthews (56) of Luton has passed away. Gigi Mathew, the brother of Stoke-on-Trent Malayali and a native of Pathanamthitta Mylapra and beloved of Luton Malayalis, has passed away.
Gigi is a person who has been with "LUKA" association since its born, "the Luton Keralite Association of Luton Malayalis". Gigi has also held positions including President. Gigi was at the forefront along with the Luton Malayalees in the tragedy faced by two families who came on student visas in a car accident in Gloucester earlier this year.
Gigi Mathews, who had finished the Christmas celebration and went to bed at night, felt uneasy at midnight and woke up in his sleep and went to the kitchen to drink water. When Gigi did not come upstairs, the wife came down to see her husband who was struggling. Everyone was at home including the recently married doctor, daughter of Gigi, for the Christmas celebration. Everyone came downstairs. His daughter, a doctor, and his wife, a nurse, administered CPR.
As soon as Gigi's condition worsened, his wife called for an ambulance. Ambulance crews arrived immediately and took him to the hospital, but he was later confirmed dead. He is a member of Mylapra Munjanath family from Pathanamthitta, district kerala state.
Gigi worked at Aylesbury NHS Hospital. His wife Shirley is a nurse at Luton and Dunstable Hospital. Children: Nikki (NHS doctor), Nikhil, Noel.
