- Clean your vehicle's windows and mirrors, and carry a screen scraper and de-icer.
- Remember that it takes longer to stop in icy conditions. Handle gently, slow down, and leave an extra distance between you and the vehicle in front.
- Increase your braking distance or 'safe space'. Avoid excessive steering, hard braking and hard acceleration.
- Use the *highest possible gear to avoid wheel spin. Choose a *lower gear especially if going through curves.
- Check the tires and replace them if the tread depth is less than 3 mm. Check that they are inflated to the correct tire pressure.
- Familiarize yourself with any safety assistance technology in your vehicle, such as electronic stability control (ESC) or anti-lock braking system (ABS).
- Watch out for vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists and allow extra space when passing them.
- Buying tyres(Types of tyres, re-treads, winter tyres, importing tyres https://www.rsa.ie/road-safety/road-users/vehicle-components/tyres/buying-tyres
