New Delhi: The country is celebrating the 74th Republic Day today. India's massive Republic Day celebrations are taking place, the President and Prime Minister of India wishes to all Indians. Before the start of the parade at 9:30 am, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the brave hearts who died by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial.

The 74th Republic Day Parade started today on January 26, 2023 at 10.30 AM from Vijay Chowk to Red Fort, along the traditional route of Karthavya Patha. President, Prime Minister and others participated. Ahead of the event, heavy security has been put in place.

President Draupadi Murmu took the salute. President Draupadi Marmu addressed the nation on Wednesday ahead of the 4th Republic Day. "We are all one, we are all Indians," said President Draupadi Murmu while addressing the nation. President Draupadi Murmu spoke at length about how India's many religions and languages have not divided its citizens but united everyone.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is the chief guest this year. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a joint press conference in Delhi that he will strengthen ties with Egypt, including fighting terrorism.

Various units of the Indian Army, warplanes and indigenously manufactured weapons were also displayed. A total of 901 police officers across the country have been awarded the President's Police Medal. Three Paramaveera Chakra and three Ashok Chakra awardees participated in this year's parade.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made ahead of the first Republic Day parade to be held after Rajpath was renamed as Kartavyapath. About 6,000 police officers were deployed in and around the duty path. The traffic police informed that there will be strict traffic control in Delhi from 6 am.

This time around a thousand people, including workers who were part of the construction of Karthavya Path and the new Parliament building, street vendors and rickshaw pullers, were guests in the parade.
