A statement on the airline's website said "business has ceased" and told passengers expecting to travel with it not to go to the airport.
Flyby's administrator has confirmed that 277 of its 321 staff are being made redundant. Financial advisory firm Interpath said the rest of the company's staff will be retained. Flyby said it cannot help passengers arrange alternative flights.
The company, which only restarted in April last year, was taken over by administrators after suffering direct losses during the Covid-19 pandemic. The company was rescued after it was bought by Thyme Opco, a firm linked to US hedge fund Cyrus Capital, and renamed Flybe Ltd.
The airline has resumed operations with plans to operate up to 530 flights per week on 23 routes. Until the most recent collapse, Flyby operated flights on 21 routes from Belfast City, Birmingham and Heathrow to airports across the UK, including Amsterdam and Geneva.
What to do if your flight is cancelled:
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the body responsible for overseas air travel in the UK, has advised consumers:
Those who booked directly with Flybe using a credit, debit or charge card should contact their card issuer for a refund. Card issuers may request a "negative response" letter proving the airline's status. It will be published on the website of CAA. https://www.caa.co.uk/news/flybe-travel-arrangements-advice/
The CAA may launch an operation to repatriate affected "isolated" passengers, but this has yet to be announced, but check their website.
Customers who have booked their flights as part of a package deal with a travel agent may be ATOL-protected and are advised to speak to their agent
Most Flybe bookings are not part of a package holiday and are unlikely to be ATOL-protected, but may be covered by travel insurance if scheduled airline cancellation is covered. Customers are advised to contact flybecustomers@interpathadvisory.com for more information.
