New Delhi: Wells Fargo fired Mumbai native Shankar Mishra for urinating on an elderly woman on an Air India flight. Meanwhile, the police have not been able to trace Shankar Mishra so far. A lookout notice has been issued for him.
American financial services company Wells Fargo has fired Shankar Mishra, the Indian vice president of its operations in India, after he drunkenly urinated on a woman in her 70s in the business class of an Air India flight.
The company said the allegations against 34-year-old Shankar Mishra were deeply disturbing. "We are cooperating with law enforcement and ask them to direct any additional inquiries," the company said in a statement released on January 6. The company said it holds its employees to the highest standards of professional and personal conduct and is deeply disturbed by the allegations.
Mishra is a resident of Mumbai. We had sent our teams to Mumbai to track down his known locations, but he was absconding. Our teams are trying to trace him, said a senior police officer.
On 5 January, the Delhi Police wrote to concerned authorities seeking a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Shankar Mishra, following reports that Mishra had urinated on a female passenger on an Air India flight on 26 November 2022.
Meanwhile, he apologized to the victim saying he shouldn't file a case in the Air India 'urinating' incident, insisting not to file a complaint: FIR says.
Mishra has also been booked under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 294 (obscene act in public), 354 (assault or criminal force intended to outrage the modesty of a woman) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult). modesty of a woman), and 510 (misbehavior in a public place by an intoxicated person), as well as charges under the Aviation Act.
Even after so many days have passed since the incident, Air India authorities filed a complaint with the police today. Air India officials say that they respected the woman's wishes and did not call the police. After the incident came to light, the Center asked the Air India officials and the flight crew to explain how the incident was handled.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a show-cause notice to Air India officials and the cabin crew of the New York-Delhi flight, warning of strict action if airline staff fail to take action against unruly or misbehaving passengers.
