USA: "Man You Are Compost" Organic Reduction Allowed for Natural "Human Composting" After Death

New York has approved human composting law aimed at a natural organic reduction after death. The process basically offers an eco-friendly solution to burial and cremation to transform human remains into life-giving soil. Human composting is also called terramation.

A body is placed in a container and allowed to decay over a period of weeks. This process is also known as "natural organic reduction."

Washington became the first US state to legalise it in 2019. Following suit were Colorado, Oregon, Vermont, and California. As a result, New York is the sixth American state to permit human composting, after Kathy Hochul, the Democratic governor of the state, on Saturday.

Special above-ground facilities are used for the process. A body is placed in a sealed container with chosen materials like woodchips, alfalfa, and straw grass, and it decomposes over time with the help of bacteria.

After approximately a month, the soil is given to loved ones after it has been heated to kill any infectious agents. Use this for planting trees, veggies, or flowers.
