Cork: Overnight in Ireland temperatures fell to -7C in parts of the Midlands and some weather schools were closed due to the inclement weather.

A number of schools in Donegal, Cork and eastern Cork were closed. School bus services were suspended, some school bus services did not operate and teaching was shifted online. They include Scoil Mhuire in Béal Átha'n Ghaorthaidh, MICC in Dunmanway, Schull Community College and Drinagh National School. Many schools did not open, particularly in the Letterkenny, Milford and Stranorlar areas of Donegal.

A status yellow snow and ice warning is in place for counties Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo until 9.00am tomorrow.

A special status yellow snow and ice warning for counties Cavan, Monaghan, Cork, Kerry, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Mayo and Roscommon is in effect from 5.30pm today until 9.00am tomorrow.
