What is FET?

Further Education and Training or FET, offers a wide variety of life-long education options to anyone over 16. FET includes apprenticeships, traineeships, Post Leaving Cert (PLC) courses, community and adult education as well as core literacy and numeracy services. FET courses and programmes are provided through the Education and Training Board network throughout the country as well as through other local providers including online through SOLAS’ eCollege. FET courses are provided at levels one to six on the  National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).

Who is FET for?

FET is for anyone who is over 16 who wants to learn new skills or enhance existing skills to get the right job, progress to third-level or to support the achievement of personal goals.

Depending on the course you choose, there may be certain eligibility criteria - contact your course provider or ETB for more information

Are fetch courses free in Ireland?

Full time courses provided by ETB Training Centres are free (except for evening courses) and you may be paid a training allowance for the duration of your course.


**Accommodation and travel allowances may be available to you to attend most courses depending on your eligibility**

🔘365884 Construction Ground Work Skills – this 10-week QQI level 4 programme is due to commence on the 23rd of January in Waterford, and it is a excellent opportunity for any learner to develop skills and competence to construct concrete slabs and paths and to lay kerbs, flags and paviors under various conditions. Also, Safepass is part of this course. 


🔘364262 L2 Certificate in Women’s Hairdressing – 22 weeks course due to start 06th of February. This course would be a great starting point for anyone who is considering a career in the hairdressing industry. 


🔘341122  – Skills to Compete -Sports, Recreation and Exercise Traineeship - 52week course due to commence 13th of February in Tramore. This programme would be a great opportunity for any learner to acquire the knowledge, skills, and competence in a range of sports, recreation, and exercise activities, and achieve National Poll Lifeguard and National Swim Assistant Teacher qualifications.
