Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Congress leader AK Antony's son Anil Antony has resigned from all posts in the Congress after he took a different stand on the Congress party's stance on the BBC documentary controversy on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Anil resigned from the post of KPCC Digital Media Cell Convenor and AICC Social Media and Digital Communication Cell.
In a tweet, advocates for freedom of expression said that he was resigning from all the positions he held in KPCC and AICC and demanded his withdrawal. I refused that request. Supporters of a journey to spread love take to the Facebook wall to rant and rave. Its name is hypocrisy. Anyway, life moves on' - Anil Antony tweeted.
A large section of the Youth Congress had criticized Anil Antony for taking a stand different from the official stand of the Congress. Anil said that it is dangerous for those in India to prioritize the views of the BBC over Indian institutions and undermine the country's sovereignty.
KPCC president K. Sudhakaran had clarified that the statements made by any person have nothing to do with the party while the reorganization of the digital cell is about to be completed. Youth Congress state president Shafi Paramba and Rahul Mangoota had come forward to reject Anil's position.
